Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

In this project we focus upon the technology mediated production process from information to(wards) knowledge within democratic P2P communities. The approach of our analysis is multidisciplinary, but mainly concerns three different aspects of decentralized P2P production: technology, sociology and philosophy. Taking our point of departure in scientific theory, well established analytical tools as well as empirical observations and qualitative interviews in relation to the two P2P projects Wikipedia and StumbleUpon, we investigate how decentralized P2P can affect knowledge production in a democratic direction. Post-evaluating, we conclude that the intersubjective collaboration and peer-review procedures of P2P on an unprecedented scale has emancipatory potentials in relation to the democratic production of knowledge committed by equipotent peers.
