This project investigates the implications of using Pierre Bourdieus practice theory as a fundamental framework for the analysis of organisations. Through an analysis of how the core Bourdieuian concepts – field, capital and habitus – can be used to grasp organisational practice, it is demonstrated how the practice theory holds a promising potential in this matter. Applied in its whole the theory shows itself as a useful analytical perspective to understanding organisations as social power structures, wherein all agency correlates to the relatively autonomous and self-sustaining logic of the organisation. Particularly the power perspective of the theory makes an obvious foundation for understanding organisational change and reproduction in terms of intra- and extra-organisational power relations.
