This project is a study of the open door foreign policy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG). Using the neoclassical realist theory it assesses the relations between the KRG and the Central Government in Baghdad, Turkey, Iran and the US, and asks critical questions about the nature of the dependencies that shape these relations. It then moves on to analyse the KRG's strategy, or lack of hereof, for overcoming these dependencies. The project argues that the KRG is taking a pragmatic approach to ensuring survival, and that the open door policy of the KRG is an attempt to reduce these dependencies.
