This project contains a comparative analysis of the German psychologist C. G. Jung´s The Red Book - Liber Novus (2009) and philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche's Thus Spoke Zarathustra. We read these great books thoroughly with assistance from other authors whose work have helped our understanding. This includes, among others, Rüdiger Safranski´s work with Nietzsche's philosophy, Aksel Haaning´s in depth work with and introduction of Jung´s authorship and Sanford L. Drob´s reading of Liber Novus. We read and interpret these great books in search of answers to whether a diagnosis of their time can be found in the texts. After this we hope that a comparative analysis can open up for an understand of a potential cure. Our approach opens up for a discussion of certain themes that are present in the books separately, but also joined. It is exciting work. Liber Novus has been in a safe vault in a Swiss bank for more than forty years. Released in 2009 this is a work of enormous interest for scholars, especially Jungian academics around the world. We know that Jung read Thus Spoke Zarathustra in depth in the period up to and doing the making of Liber Novus. Therefore, we want to see how his reading has influenced Liber Novus. Both works are monumental and we hope that they can give us an insight into the modern European man and time doing the period 1880-1920.
