This project is an investigation of Nørrebro United and their ability to become a rallying point in Nørrebro. This project looks at the relationship between place and football, and how football teams can serve as a representative of a given place and its identity. Theories about Football, place and identity are used in order to answer that it is possible, but there are some problems standing in the Nørrebro United’s way. They need to become a more recognizable name in Nørrebro, which this project suggest could be done with a prominent football team. The duality of being both a social organisation and a football club hurts their focus. Nørrebro United needs to find a way to integrate their social values into a football club, such as a prominent special needs team, or find a way to put the two different focuses together in a more cohesive way. The lack of professionals in the administrative part of Nørrebro United is causing more pressure on both the voluntary and paid staff, which harms the association overall. The interviews this project did with people involved with Nørrebro United, have enlightened a lot of potential in the culture and determination to change and improve Nørrebro, but the lack of an overall plan is hurting this potential.
