Nørrebro Distorted is a case study about how Distortion Festival alters the sense of place in the urban district of Nørrebro. The transformative ability of Distortion Festival is the core argument of this case study. Not surprisingly, the relation between festivals and alteration of sense of place is part of an extensive historical discourse on festivals. The spatial theory has been utilised as a frame of reference where social interaction is possible in relation to the physical world. The meaning people assign to this frame of reference is different from person to person because the relationship between people and the spatial context is dependent on their cognitive state. The case study explores how and why does Distortion Festival alters the sense of place in Nørrebro and builds a positive image of place. We have measured the alteration both through empirical data and secondary sources.
