Abstrakt

All words have a set meaning which is always being approached by the users in the process of communication. Even though a word is meant to refer to a precise unit of known reality (both things of the material world and the universe of conceptualized ideas), during the conversation people tend to imply more than they express only with words. In the Danish language the word fuck has new semantical meanings attached to it, which help to express the variety of feelings depending on the situation the word is being used in: anger, irritation, interest, excitement. In comparison to the English usage it does not include the same level of tabu. Phrasemes with the word are also spread widely and have their own function which is either to show dissociation from the matter or make it clear that one person is angry with something the other one has done. With the usage of the approach of The Natural Semantic Metalanguage (NSM) the semantical meanings of the word and phrasemes including it, which function in the shared consciousness of the language users for them to be able to maintain a well-functioning communication, are being explained.
