This project examines how a digital music game for the elementary school’s music lessons, can be designed in a way so the primary school's goals for learning are achieved, while the children's attention and motivation are maintained. Gamification and three additional learning methods create theoretical basis for the design process, additional with a test of a prototype, ensuring that the game is fit for the children's needs. The project has a focus on the design process. Several gamestorming activities have been used as the framework for the idea generating process. It is particularly the correlation between the environment and the theoretical base that makes it possible to create the design requirements contributing to the design solutions. Due to micro testing it has been possible to iterate on the first design draft. Also, an interview with a music teacher has given insight into the environment of the classroom. Finally, an evaluation has been performed on the basis of the empirical data.
