Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project examines the phenomenon of forest gardens from an interdisciplinary basis. The issue is both about the future of food shortages, and climate change will require an overhaul of the way we farm agriculture today. The project examines a forest garden in the ecological comunity Dyssekilde in the north of Sealand in Denmark, to evaluate its effectiveness and renewable from an emergy analysis perspective. The project considers the forest garden system as a possible solution to be included in the sustainable future of agriculture. There will be involved theory about permaculture, eco-functional intensification, ecosystem services and theory about emergy analysis, to synthesize an understanding of the concept as a part of a sustainable future in the danisk agriculture. The project concludes that the forest garden in the ecovillage Dyssekilde is more efficient and renewable than the conventional farming practices involved in the project. Forest Gardens is nevertheless facing certain economic and social, and partly cultural, barrier to diffusion in a Danish context.
