The purpose of this project is to study how management motivates their part-time employees, thereby achieving the requirement of effectiveness and minimum sickness absence. The project is based on Tjellesen Max Jenne A / S distribution storage. To examine this, the project will use two different management theories known as Path Goal and Relational Management. The theories provide different suggestions and prerequisites for how a leader should lead, if the goal is to induce and maintain motivation among employees.
This will be compared with the empirical reality that has been collected by the project group, through different qualitative methods, observation study, expert interview and focus group interview. By analyzing the collected empirical data from the chosen theories, it will be possible to gain insight into whether the actual management of TMJ manages to motivate their part-time employees, so that they achieve the efficiency that the management is aiming for. The research concludes that even though the style of management on the surface indicate to motivate the part-time employees of distribution warehouse, it partly fail so when we take a deeper look into the structures of the warehouse.
