Abstrakt

Based on the theoretical foundation of Niklas Luhmann this report adapts his theory of trust to analyse and investigate the following question: Which oppotunities and which barriers are connected with the establishment of trust in the Government and in The National Danish Anti Doping Agency, towards prevention of recreational use of doping? Following an analysis of the subject, this report concludes that among users of doping there exists a distrust of the political system represented by the National Danish Anti Doping Agency, Anti Doping Danmark. This distrust is rooted in the way we exhibit distrust towards users of doping through the Danish legislation concerning the issue of doping. This legislation exists within a complex system, and has enabled the group of people who are affected by it to externalize their frustration in the form of sabotage and criticism. They do not feel they have the ability to make a choice, but they are instead subject to an immanent danger of being subjected to a random test for doping. There is an opportunity to establish a personal form of trust in facing these drug users. At the interpersonal level it is possible to bypass the mistrust that is generated by the system and the legislation. Therefore, there is a distinct opportunity in cooperation with local stakeholders to establish a relationship of trust with the people who are at risk of using doping recreationally.
