Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The purpose of this project is to uncover how the social art involves and affects the viewer. To illustrate this issue we have chosen to use Nicolas Bourriaud's literary work Relational Aesthetics and Claire Bishop's article The Social Turn wich both deal with how social art engages the viewer and generate new interpersonal reflections. Together with theories of performance, semiotics and the bodily perception, we have created the basis for the analysis of our cases, the art duo Gil & Moti's exhibition Totally Devoted to You and Ai Weiwei's artpiece Sunflower Seeds. Bourriaud presents the concept of micro-utopia, setting a model for art's relationship and forces the viewers to consider art and society in relation to one another.
