In this paper the efficacy of implementing Mindfulness practices in Danish Folk Schools is examined. This is done through a three month fieldwork based around observing the way in which students perceive the experience of having to meditate for the duration of 5 minutes. The observations are analysed through the prism of Otto Scharmer’s Theory U and empirical research on the German MISCHO (Mindfulness in schooling) programme. It is found that while first-hand application of theory U and Mindfulness produce responses in students which support the source material in question, the limited sample size and the localised setting reduces the study to fodder for further discussion on the complexity of Mindfulness implementation in education.
