Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

I was hired as an intern at United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at UN Kosovo Team from June 2015 and six months onwards. I was hired to assist on the first UN inter-agency initiative in Kosovo in support of youth engagement. The initiative is named the “UN Joint Youth and Adolescent Programme Development” (JYAP). Thus, this internship-project begins with a presentation and reflection of my work-tasks and responsibilities during my internship at UNDP.
50.000 individuals migrated from Kosovo only in the period from the end of November 2015 until February 2015. Furthermore, in 2014, 50% of the younger generation stated that they would emigrate from Kosovo if they had the opportunity. It is estimated that every third household in Kosovo has family members living abroad.
This project seeks to investigate the underlying drivers and implications for migration from Kosovo. This project aims to provide an understanding of key migration triggers. Furthermore, Kosovo has a history of war and military intervention, which will also be discussed and analysed in the analytical discussions. In order to conduct this study, this project has stated the following problem formulation: What are the general causes of Migration from Kosovo?
