Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This study examines how the media have influenced the population. The toll ring serves as the case. The issue about, how the media can have an impact on the population, arises consequently to an awareness of the unbalanced coverage of this topic, as showed in Mandag Morgen’s study. This paper explains how the media has an influence on the population, by using knowledge about the case, as well as discourse theory, framing and other theories. The case is employed as a springboard to the study’s focus: The possibilities and tools that are used by the media, in order to influence the population. The media can influence the population by reproducing or transforming the existing discourse. They do that by using tools as framing, agenda-setting theory and so on. The assignment therefore concludes that, the press has employed above-mentioned tools, in order to create a negative discourse that is being reproduced in the media, and contributing to the unbalanced coverage of the toll ring.
