Magtens Sprog: Konstruktioner på tværs af natur, kultur, menneske og race i Adolf Hitlers Min Kamp

Mette Rattenborg Hersbøll & Sara Malou Meyer

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This report elaborates on how meaning is ascribed to the signs 'nature' and 'culture' within a National Socialist discourse, and how these signs contribute in the construction of a representation of man as racial determined. We conduct a discourse analysis on the political work My Struggle by Adolf Hitler by applying a theory of discourse by Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe. Futhermore, we draw on certain aspects of Stuart Halls theory of representation in order to gain an understanding of how these constructions work as strategies in creating an imagined community. In this report, we show how in My Struggle, the notion of race is constructed as the natural way of organizing mankind into categories.
