Abstrakt

In 2012 the Danish government presented a proposal to enforce the integration policy. In this regard they put forth an independent Task Force with the purpose of making recommendations by presenting earlier experiences and methods. This resulted in a report made by the Task Force called “Målrettet integration - et fælles ansvar”. Through a discourse analysis of the report, this project seeks to investigate who have been made subjects of the Task Force report and furthermore which understandings the representation of these subjects enforce and reproduce. With a focus on understandings of Us and Them we have found an indication that the subjects of the report are mainly non westerners who in that are culturally different. Furthermore that they are being problematized because of these cultural differences. As the understanding of the subjects of the report seems to be of non Western societies and that the cultural differences seems to pose the problems, we find that the Task Force is reproducing understandings of Us and Them. This affects the integration strategies to hold the understanding that the subjects are expected to seek conformity with what is perceived as Danish cultural forms.
