The Thesis revolves around airport security in Denmark and how it is legitimised on the part of the legislative authorities as well as the users of Danish airports. We focus on the airport security check as it is the fix point in which system and citizens congregate. We have examined the topic by analysing the rationality dominating the field and by preforming a series of interviews with passengers in Copenhagen Airport which enables us to analyse their trust in the system. For the purpose of analysing the rationality we have applied the theory of governmentality by Foucault, while the users' trust is explained through Luhmann and Giddens. The analytic structure of the thesis is based on the analytic methodology of Carol Bacchi. By the end of the project we discuss the identified relation between user and system and what consequences this implies on an general level.
