Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

In the following report we seek, through multiple theories, interviews, local municipality plans and an excursion, to investigate conflicts concerning the rebranding, opening and reuse of Vridsløselille State Prison. We use Henri Lefebvre’s view of space as a social product as our ontology, and through his theoretical framework we investigate different aspects of the spatial interpretation of the prison. Our project is divided into three analyses, facilitating a broader and fuller spatial understanding of the prison area. The different analyses are based on relevant theory, interviews, observations and the municipal policies. During the project we have uncovered multiple conflicts between social practices and perceptions. We have discovered that Albertslund municipality would benefit from further investigation of the conflicts between their own visions and the citizen's acquisitions, while planning the new urban area in the middle of the city.
