Litteraturens Ontologi

Martin Grünfeld

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

The report presently at hand ”Litteraturens ontologi” discuses the ontological prob-lem of literature. The ontological problem deals with the difficulties of how artworks as such exists, i.e. whether it is possible to characterize the properties of artworks as an object or rather as a subjective phenomenom. The philosophical discussion is based on a subject-object dichotomy which characterizes several attempts to define the ontology of literature. The two sides of the dichotomy is represented by respec-tively Monroe C. Beardsley and Stanley Fish. The aim of the discussion is an anihila-tion of the dichtomi which seems possible through involvement of Wolfgang Iser. Furthermore to extend the reach of the discussion an attempt to identify the necessary conditions in founding an ontology of litterature will be executed.
