This theory based paper examines themes within the subjects management and psychological work environment which includes motivation and meaningfulness. With this paper we want to determine how ‘good management’ contributes to the creation of a meaningful and motivating psychological work environment. Theorists such as Niels Engelsted, Edward H. Schein, Mogens Agervold, Aaron Antonovsky, Anthony Giddens and Richard Sennett are used to enlighten the themes and factors in play. Important elements in this project are working conditions, the individual and the psychosocial transactional factors. To inflict a practical perspective we have included an acknowledged former CEO; Alfred Josefsen from Irma. We implemented an interview to achieve knowledge about his experiences with management in relation to meaningfulness and motivation. We have analyzed our theory by comparing it to other theory as well as using our empirical data as a supplement. The paper concludes that good management in relation to a good psychological work environment is a result of various factors as working conditions, authority versus dedication and more.
