Kritisk- reflekterende design

Christopher Vik

Studenteropgave: Bachelorprojekt

This project examines how a design methodology based on experimentation, imagining utopias, community based participatory learning, and critical reflection could lead to technology which lives up to its responsibilities in society. As a result, it is argued that some technologies, due to authorities not including the public in the devise, are repressing people to see their real needs. In this matter it is important to make a democratic community based reflection which takes the end user's communities into account. However, the project states that this democratic reflection would be a result of the generalized agency in the community, and therefore it will not see through the complex set of restrictions, that the community is embedded. To avoid these restrictions, the user should use their imagination to think about alternative scenarios and utopias. These utopias are believed to extend the user's frame of reference and perhaps provoke the user to think outside the generalized agency. In other words, it is about what the user would need if the users knew what to need.
