Abstract This project deals with the use of Crisis Communication by Danmarks Radio and Wonderful Copenhagen after hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen in May 2014. Specifically, we have chosen to examine how DR and Wonderful Copenhagen have used Image Recovery Strategies and Response Strategies to their advantages. The reason why we have chosen these two organizations is due to the fact that they have played key roles during the Eurovision case. To answer our question we make use of multiple theorists but this project is mainly framed by W. Timothy Coombs, William L. Benoit and Winni Johansen & Finn Frandsen. Their theoretical frameworks help us understand and dissect several factors such as what a crisis is in the light of goal-oriented communication, the relationship between the sender and the recipient, Denial Strategies, Crisis Response Strategies, Rhetorical Arenas and Contexts. We have conducted our investigation by means of a social constructivist and approach. It has been evident through the project that both DR and Wonderful Copenhagen are trying to manoeuvre the responsibility for the budget overruns away in connection with the Eurovision case. We have concluded that both agents make use of many identical strategies when it comes to Crisis Communication. Furthermore, this assignment has given us a broader knowledge of the dealing of Crisis Situations through specific communication tools.
