Studenteropgave: Basisprojekt

This project seeks to create an overview and understanding of the complexity that exists in the danish textile industry, with a focus on the businesses. The textile industry is one of the most polluting industries and is in urgent need of a transition into a more sustainable sys-tem. The project uses Actor-network theory to understand and explore the textile industry as a giant network of socio technological actors, both human and non-human. Furthermore it uses Transition Theory and Corporate Social Responsibility Paradigm to point out how a future transition to a more sustainable textile industry could unfold.
The methodological layer is based on qualitative interviews and empirical research.
Analytically, the project uses visual mapping to explain and show the complexity of the ator-network that is the textile industry. It is discussed how different aspects of the missing transition to sustainability relates to specific phenomenons as for example the neoclassical economic paradigm. The project concludes that mapping controversies can create a broader understanding of a complex actor-network as the textile industry. This serves as an ap-proach for specific solutions, moving towards a holistic strategy.
