Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This assignment is about what elements can be the reason for not voting at the election for the Municipality. It is seen as a democratic problem if not all parts of the population vote. If that is the fact, not all of the population will be represented in the Municipality. The assignment investigates how age, education, income, social marginalisation and ethnic background are essential when you decide whether to vote or not.In the assignment different theories are used to explain the individuals capacity to participate in the election for the Municipality. The Forms of Capital by Pierre Bourdieu and election-‐participation-‐theories are used to analyse the data of election participation. In the analysis theory and data are combined and the assignment concludes, that elements as for example educational level, norms of voting and the ability to understand the language of the politicians are important factors to whether you vote or not. As a method data has been collected from other assignments and books because we have chosen not to collect our own data. The perspective of the assignment is about the overall theme of power. In this part of the assignment three faces of power is used. These three forms of power explain the used of power in the Municipalities; both as you vote and as you are part of the Municipality.
