Jeanne d'Arc - mennesket bag myten

Carsten Jensen & Christine Hedetoft

Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Jeanne d’Arc is a fascinating figure from the Later Middle Ages. Since Jeanne d’Arc was burned at the stake, she has been portrayed in different ways, both as a suffering Jesus-figure and as an amazon-warrior. In this present work, we allow Jeanne d’Arc to tell her story with her own words. Based on Jeanne d’Arc’s testi-monies of the trial against her we have sought to get an insight to her personality, her faith, and her understanding of the Church’s position in her relation to God. Furthermore, the reading of the trial of Jeanne reflects some of the trends in the later medieval society and especially the ongoing development of the Church, which through its internal division becomes more closely attached to secular rulers.
