This Design Science Research paper examines an iterative process that involves designing, prototyping, testing and evaluating an interactive installation with focus on social play. Through this installation we want to give the participants an opportunity to interact socially with each other and the surroundings of the installation. The purpose is to make it function as a tool, for a social interaction between people that does not necessarily know each other. This will be set in the scene of a specific case that takes place on the FDF National Camp.
Throughout the paper different theories and terms that we have found relevant for developing an interactive installation with elements of play, will be explained. Some of the issues that will be discussed is based on microsociology, and concerns how people interact with the installation in different environments. At the end the project concludes that we through an iterative design process, have reached our purpose to create an interactive installation, which creates possibility for social interaction through play.
