Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

This project concerns integration in particularly vulnerable residential areas. The hypothesis whether there is poor integration in a residential social context is examined. It is based on a case from Tåstrupgård, which is on the list of particularly vulnerable neighbourhoods. The assignment also includes three relevant reports from SBi to clarify the causes and barricades regarding integration in housing areas. Relevant theoreticians have been used to understand the integration issues and to clarify the possible sociological aspects behind the classification of a vulnerable housing area. The thesis will be examined in chapters throughout the report. One of the conclusions is that there is a profound integration problem in a social context of a residential area and a lack of common understanding of cultures. The lack of a common language can create conflicts between the residents of a residential area. The lack of mutual integration amongst the neighbours in a residential area affects the integration in the rest of society. Throughout a masterplan created for Tåstrupgård the challenges are attempted resolved to ensure Tåstrupgårds integration and inclusion in the rest of the society. Integration in Tåstrupgård is primarily developed from initiatives, which focuses on improving integration in a residential area.
