We examine two methods that enable wireless energy transfer – classic induction, used to charge electric buses in Germany, and a new and revolutionary technology from 2007, magnetically coupled resonance. We examine their ability to charge buses. The report contains some background theory, leading up to an explanation of what magnetically coupled resonance is. We compare the two wireless technologies, and evaluate whether it is realistic, that magnetically coupled resonance can replace classic induction. We conclude that magnetically coupled resonance theoretically is a good method to make wireless charging of buses easier, but the technique is new, and there are still practical challenges.
