Studenteropgave: Fagmodulprojekt

This project sets out to examine what happens to the process of formation of identity when an individual leaves a religious movement. To answer this problem a selection of theoretics were chosen: Jerome Bruner, Carsten Jørgensen and Åse Lading and Bent Jørgensen. They each represent different standpoints on theory of science. We conducted an interview with a former Jehovah’s Witness, Kristian Molbo, using the FANI method. Based on this interview we made an analysis using the theoretics to interpret Kristian’s narrative and a discussion of our theories based on this analysis. The dissimilarities of our theories are less distinct than we expected which was both an advantage and a disadvantage. We can conclude that our theoretics have different viewpoint on the formation of identity in an individual. Furthermore we believe that because our theoretics offer different perspectives on the process of formation of identity, we have gained a wide and nuanced understanding of our problem. This has lead us to the conclusion that the leaving of a religious movement affects the process of formation of identity of an individual and affects how the narrative of the individual is constructed afterwards.
