Abstrakt

Social media such as Instagram and Facebook are internet sites or apps that are interactive and user- generated. They are often used for posting short texts, photos, videos, and communicating with one’s friends and acquaintances. This project is focused specifically on Instagram and blogs, and what role they play in shaping young people’s identity. Instagram is an app focused on pictures, and users often only post a couple of words to accompany the posted picture. Furthermore we will in- corporate photo filters, what they are and how they work, as well as the effect they have on the pic- tures. The purpose of this is, to see how much a picture can change, and how it affects the way we see it. Moreover we will look into, how technology can be mediating, and influence the shaping of identity. Additionally, we will explore whether or not the way we use social media, is a part of the problem. As an example, Danish influencer and blogger Sandra Willer, is used to analyse her pic- tures and the effects her posts can have on her followers and the shaping of their identity.
