The thesis suggests a renewed Global Studies vocabulary from which to investigate issues related to youth identity negotiation and postcolonial whiteness. By investigating concepts related to the ‘post’-theories the thesis seek to suggest a more inclusive and holistic approach to the field of Global Studies. An approach, better equipped to embrace the complexity of lived experience. The thesis investigates theoretical and methodological approaches such as intersectionality and autoethnography and it suggest the use of narratives as a legitimate form of social science research. Throughout the thesis South Africa is used as a frame for investigation and the thesis is structured as a pre-study for further investigation of postcolonial whiteness.
