This paper’s focus is my internship at Midtsjællands Gymnasium in psychology. The paper examines myself as a teacher. Furthermore it examines how I as a young and inexperienced teacher can be sure that the students gain some new psychological knowledge in my classes. Therefore the paper presents two learning theories from Lev Vygotsky and Jean Piaget. Based on Vygotsky I have found the importance of working with the students’ zone of proximal development. Furthermore based on Piaget I have learned the importance of starting an adaptation process with the students which I have done in my classes by presenting some new psycholoical knowledge based on knowledge the students already possess. To examine my role as a teacher the paper uses theory by Steen Beck who presents the learning circle. From this circle the paper presents two kind of ways to facilitate a class which creates different teaching types. The analysis of this paper seeks to investigate which of these two teaching types I identitfy with myself. The paper concludes that I can identitfy myself with both of these teaching types and furthermore it emphasizes the importance of a frequently shifting between these two. This is because of students can have different kinds of zones of proximal development which for some develops in the one type of facilitated class and for some other students it develops in the other form of facilitated class. The teacher, and I, must respect this. Therefore it is important as a teacher to remember to facilitate the classes differently and thereby shift between the different teaching types.
