After the Danish Government presented a change in the current Danish State Educational Students’ Grant and Loan Scheme (SU), we were frustrated by the incomprehensible language used by Danish politicians in their communication. This project seeks to investigate how a speech can be created to achieve comprehension of complicated topics by using both rhetorics and science communication. Additionally this project is centered around a speech both created and performed by the group to an audience of high-school students at Greve Gymnasium and the subsequent audience interviews. The method of investigation hereby is condensation of meaning used to interpret the meaning behind the statements given by the audience.
Based on the results of the project, we have come to the conclusion, that elements of both rhetorics and science communication, are well suited for the creation and the performance of a speech regarding the change in the Danish SU-system, where the purpose is to communicate a complicated topic in a understandable way.
