This study investigates the problematics regarding the lack of acceptance and the difficulties of the newly emerging sex and genders in our society. The poem Jeg stoler mest på kvinder by Storm Lillevang explains the everyday experiences and challenges non-binary people go through as indivi-duals who stand out from the crowd. The theory by Dorte Marie Søndergaard clarifies the different components all people are built from and how the combination of these components must be legitimate to function in our society. Judith Butler’s subject-in-process is constructed in discourse as shown in the poem. The project discovers that the general problem is that we can not translate all aspects of society since our language is inadequate and does not contain neutral gender pronouns nor neuter, but we as human beings have the power to change the boundaries of the language and thus also change the perception of society.
