This project is based on an examination of gender in the straight world order and illustrates the problems that occur in a society that operates with a rigid binary, within gender identity. Our focus is as well based on an urge to get specially men to become more self-reflective and expressive when it comes to gender, sex and equal rights. By creating a relational performance in a public space setting in Holbæk, we put an effort to get men -and women involved in the discussion about what it means to be a “real” man. At this stage we experienced how our participants found the subject quite difficult to put into words. What they actually did was to confirm our theory of the stereotype performance of men and women. Through Judith Butlers theory, we define the meaning of, and the difference between sex and gender and use Kenneth Reinicke’´s theory to describe and understand men. By examining the straight world order we obtained an understanding of a form of epistemic violence against individuals that deviates from the norm. Finally we can conclude that the extension and general recognition of multiple gender definitions are required, if the exclusion of the minority must cease.
