Mercers Cost of Living Report from 2007 showed that Copenhagen is the world’s 6th most expensive city to live in. We have used this report as an inspiration to examine the costs of living in Copenhagen. Afterwards we discuss the high costs of living and what consequences they have. One such consequence is that nurses, teachers and police officers can’t afford to live in the city, and therefore have to move. This may in the end result in a lack of workers in these key professions in the city and this problem deteriorates because of the demographic development. The lack of these producers of welfare, results in Copenhagen’s terms of attracting the generators of future growth, for example the creative class, deteriorates.
