Studenteropgave: Basisprojekt

This project’s theme is about designer children, and selection of children, and the problematic ethical discussions that derive from designing and selecting children. The project defines the uses of Subjectivity, Technology & Society, and we define how we use Technology, Systems & Artefact. Then the project takes into account the methods ethical literature studies, the s-curve and argument analysis. Then the concepts of the project are defined as we use them. We then present the theories, like how technology is today, technology such as PGD, and then we describe how DNA works. Then we take in account, for the future that CRISPR might bring us. The theory leads the project onto the analysis, that takes onto the challenge of argument analysis, in which we describe the transhumanist arguments against the bioconservatists, and discuss the results of the arguments. That leads us onto a discussion about the dilemmas, that the arguments create. We then go onto concluding the dilemmas that is created, such as the only way we should use the technologies. The first dilemma is to enhance our health and cure our diseases or use the technology for human enhancement. The second dilemma is whether or not we should allow technology to design our children’s abilities and traits.
