Having an effective and goal-leading CSR agenda seems almost presupposed for companies operating in modern environments. Mining and cement industry are exposed to extremely high pressure from the public and their external stakeholder, to perform as eco-friendly and sustainable as possible. Therefore, a clear strategy on CSR is required, most notably in multinational corporations, like FLSmidth.
Organizations structured as such, are led through responsible persons in different ways. This paper aims firstly to shed a light on different leadership styles of the leaders being involved in CSR issues. Empirical techniques help to uncover the different characteristics, while these insights will be assessed in regard to the problematic below.
Secondly, this paper is based on the finding of several scholars, that strategies do mostly not suffer from their development, but from their implementation.
The relation of both spheres will be investigated in this project by combining the insights of first and applying it to the model of the second.
FLSmidth sustainability unit will be the ground for this case study. Especially the fact that the department underwent a change recently will be used to highlight the relevance of the individual leadership style.
