This project is based on the theme of power and globalization because it investigates how the cultural crisis caused due to immigration leads to women getting violated of their rights. The case study is based on the Middle Eastern and South Asian immigrants in the UK, specifically, how the young girls and women have a cultural dilemma leading to HBV. To examine the process and reach to a valid conclusion, the problem formulation is formed as, ‘’How does conflicting norms and the intersection of differing cultural values lead to HBV among UK immigrant communities?’’. The aim of the project is to investigate the norms and behaviour of immigrant society to see what kind of cultural clash it creates for the young girls and the situation leading to HBV and thus for this reason, first hand data has been collected from victims as well as the experts and journalist working in the field. Apart from this, the second hand data has been collected from reports, journals and news articles. The collected data is then put in context of the relevant theories by Bourdieu, Mead, Becker and Eugene Ehrlich, in order to analyse the situation and reach to the conclusion that young girls relate themselves more with the British community and this is not accepted by the parents of the immigrant community and they choose honour based violence to punish or prevent their girls from losing honour of the family in the society.
