Historiebrug i Harry Potter - historieformidling på en ny måde

Abstrakt

This project aims to explore the possibilities to read use of history and historical communication in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling. The hypothesis is that the novels contain elements of history brought into present time thus becoming part of contemporary consciousness. In the project parallels has been drawn between racial politics and use of propaganda in World War II and in the Harry Potter series. This has been done to clarify if such parallels can be drawn, hereby showing use of history and historical communication in the novels. In conclusion this project has shown that parallels between The Nüremberg Laws, The Eternal Jew, and the use of propaganda can be drawn to the Harry Potter series. Furthermore it has shown that awareness of the reader’s position in terms of possible parallels between a historical event and a literary work is important.
