The aim of the thesis is to compile an idea catalogue with suggestions for climate adaptation solutions which Odsherred Municipality, Odsherred Utility or other interested parties (players) can use in further work on the climate adaptation of the port of Nykøbing in Nykøbing Sjælland. The thesis is based (built) on the backcasting-inspired approach, as the strategic approach and goal-oriented aim is beneficial in planning characterized by complexity and uncertainties. Additionally is used a holistic planning approach, which involves (means) that relevant (stakeholders) must be involved and the various areas to be integrated in the planning, so it can create synergies between climate adaptation and urban development. The majority of the collected empirical data must therefore clarify relevant actors wants to develop the port area of Nykøbing in Nykøbing Sjælland. Moreover water resources are not to be considered separately, but as a whole. In addition, the thesis focused on how the Administrative framework challenge the public planning so as to take account of the challenges in the further planning process. It can be concluded that the best way to ensure the port area against Stormflood surges is through the expansion of existing dikes and to establish a Flood wall, as it is the most profitable solution, which solution provides the greatest added value to the area. To ensure the port area of flooding caused by cloudburst, are all the identified solutions necessary. Though, It can be concluded that remeandering of Grønnehave Bæk will provide the greatest benefit in the area, as the solution ensures highest values. Therefore, it is recommended that the Remeandering of Grønnehave Bæk brook priority if it is necessary to prioritize the solutions. Additionally, it can be concluded that the Administrative framework is a challenge for the realization of climate adaptation efforts, which is due too few resources, lack of responsibility and unclear rules. Additionally, there are challenges in the realization of a comprehensive climate adaptation because of the current planning practice, influenced by sectoral organization, lack of cooperation and communication.
