This project investigates the pedagogical practices from a participant perspective in the context of the educational values at a danish Folkehøjskole. This particular case takes its empirical foundation in the subject Dansk sprog og kultur at Jyderup Højskole, whose participants consists only of refugees. The subject was initiated by Jyderup Højskole who established a collaboration with Roskilde municipality with the goal of receiving refugees at the school. The project seeks to investigate how the participants find themselves in the institutional structure of Jyderup Højskole, and furthermore how the educational values of Jyderup Højskole comes in conflict through the established work with Roskilde municipality; in forms of outer regulations and integrational goals. The empirical data consists of qualitative methodologies: several interviews with the participants (refugees), the teacher, the principal at Jyderup Højskole as well as a representative from Roskilde municipality and a participatory observation. The project discusses social cohesion through socialisation theory, a research on the general pedagogical practice in the danish Folkehøjskole and a discussion about the structures around the subject Dansk sprog og kultur through the use of theories on educational values.
