This paper aims to identify the way in which health and body image are communicated on Instagram, by analyzing the posts of two distinct fitness influencers: @blogilates and @tammyhembrow. We attempt to perform a semiological analysis of these influencers’ content on Instagram by drawing upon concepts such as health lifestyles, aesthetic labor and gendered body. Upon the examination of the influencers’ content it becomes clear that their health communication is closely intertwined with diverse aspects concerning body image, something which is addressed in more detail further in the project. Based on the findings of the analysis, a discussion is performed and concluding remarks are presented.
