Studenteropgave: Semesterprojekt

Abstrakt

This project is a discourse analysis of the media discourses in Danish media in regards to American politics in general and more specifically the Republican Party. The discourse analysis is the result of a target group analysis where three Danish experts on American politics share their views on the discourses in Danish media when it comes to American politics. All three experts are important meaning-makers in the Danish media debate. They argue that there are discourses in the media that portray the Republicans in a less favorable light than the Democrats, but the analysis shows that the discourses are multifaceted and have historic, cultural, and political roots. The discussion of the media discourses show differences in opinion between the experts, and they each have unique perspectives to offer about the media discourses they discuss. The analysis of the discourses is done through utilizing McCombs' media theories about agenda setting, priming, and framing.
