This project discusses the group formation process of the bachelor degree of Humanistic-Technology at Roskilde University (RU). We examine the group formation from various perspectives to give a thorough insight of how this process takes place, because we are of the firm conviction that this can, and should be improved. Our focus is to illuminate the circumstances of which the group formation committee has to organize the group formation process. Initially we look upon the group formation at a basic level; from there we heighten the level of perspective and look at the aspects that constitute the group formation. The knowledge we have acquired for the report has been done by qualitative methods such as interviews of key persons and focus-groups interviews. These methods as well as the entire project are characterized by a phenomenological social-constructivist approach of theory of knowledge. To analyze the empirical knowledge collected, we have applied a theory from Jens Müller that allows us to analyze each part of the group formation process. On the basis of our studies we have evaluated various technological recommendations to cover the problems we have identified throughout the report. Conclusively we give a proposal as to how the circumstances of the process of forming groups at Humanistic-Technology can be improved.
