This study explores the construct of Green Core Competencies, its implications and benefits for the hospitality industry. Taking as a departure point on what sustainability is for the industry and how it acts upon it. The study interprets available strategic and operational systems impacting on the competences and capabilities of the studied hotel chain, Comwell Hotels. The results of the study show how company stakeholder responsibility (New CSR) supported by a proactive approach and the implementation of an environmental management system (EMS) can favor the emergence of Green Core Competencies in the hotel industry.
