Global Investigative Journalism - An Investigation Of An Analytic Field And Its Agents This thesis examines the field of global investigative journalism with methods drawn from Cultural Encounters studies: by using the French sociologist Pierre Bourdieu's tools, which he describes in "An Invitation to Reflexive Sociology" with the concepts of field, habitus and capital to uncover and show positions and structures in the field of global investigative journalism. The study will subsequently try to analyze the symbolic capital that is at stake at the operator level in order to describe parts of a habitus of journalists working transnationally with investigative journalism. The study shows that the field of transnational investigative journalism or global investigative journalism is characterized by some simple but effective power structures, where the institutional positions of power are built around a relatively limited number of relationships. Operators that are part of this study are driven by a personal commitment, which in itself is marked symbolically capital. They do not consider what they do to be particularly sophisticated but journalism is a little more bulky and slightly more demanding, but the main thing is that they do it. The agents shares with each other. Virtually all the know-how to investigate a given problem, is freely available if you search for it. Personal contacts - networking - is the second most important issue of symbolically capital. The ability to build a useful network takes up a lot both in the actors' consciousness and at the institutional level. It seems that the field is growing, but the element of personal contact sets certain limits on how quickly and how large the area can grow. According to the German sociologist Ulrich Beck there will be an intensification of transnational spaces and new groups and communities will occur - that is exactly what is happening in the field. Globalisation has opened up the possibility and a new field has emerged. The field has built in some structures that make it difficult to expand. Personal commitment and personal contact are two of the key elements, which obviously place some limitations. Key positions are furthermore obsessed with the same names as the analysis of the relationships shown.
