This master thesis has investigated the phenomenon gated communities through a case study of Troldmands Allé in the Trylleskov Strand project in Solrød, Denmark. Firstly, this master thesis wanted to investigate what the consequences were of planning cities filled with walls and surveillance, what it does to the cities and the citizens through the main theory by Blakely and Snyder. Secondly, this master thesis wanted to understand how Solrød municipality works, and how they handle the negativity this case has gotten through the media. Thirdly, this master thesis wanted to figure out how the national planning in Denmark functions and how the laws can interpret to work against gated communities in the Danish community. In the conclusion, this master thesis can determine that the case Troldmands Allé is very a complex case and that the current planning act is effective for now.
