Abstrakt

This project is motivated by a concern as to whether the volunteer’s interests are safeguarded in a society where voluntary organizations and public institutions are facing challenges with organizing and distribution of responsibilities in accordance to the voluntary sector. In this report, we have examined why members of the Salvation Army are volunteers, how the volunteers reason their participation in voluntary work and what function the social relations has in the Salvation Army for the volunteer work. For this, we used two theoretical input angles - Critical psychology of Klaus Holzkamp and reflexive sociology of Pierre Bourdieu. The project uses a qualitative method by analyzing interviews made with members of the Salvation Army. We have with critical psychology analyzed the conditions of the community in the Salvation Army, and we have used reflexive sociology to see the reproductive strategies in families in the Salvation Army implements.
